Examines and repairs engraved printing plates, using plate gauge, cement, and tissue paper: Visually examines plates for defects, such as scratches, broken corners, or broken type. Measures plates to verify specified printing height of type-face, line-engraving, half-tone, and color printing areas. Builds up low spots on plate, using tissue paper and cement. Records type of defect on back of plate and routes plate to repair room.
